Details
The 1899 New York newsboys' strike is the subject of this muscial that chronicling the newsies' struggle with publishing mogul Joseph Pulitzer, their battering at the hands of strikebreakers, and their eventual triumph.
The inspiration for the hit Broadway musical of the same name, Newsies is based on a the true story of a courageous group of newsboys who became unlikely heroes when they teamed up to fight an unscrupulous newspaper tycoon. Starring Christian Bale, Robert Duvall, Bill Pullman and Ann-Margret, this high-spirited, singing and dancing dazzler was also the directorial debut of Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) and features songs by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid), J.A.C. Redford, and Jack Feldman. Seize the day!
